John D. Greene

John Durward Greene, age 85 of Knoxville, Tn., went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2024. John was born May 7, 1938 in Sneedville, Tn. to the late James Henry Greene & Eva Brewer Greene. John was graduate from Hancock County High School and the University of Tennessee with an engineer degree. He was employed at McDowell Aircraft Corps., St. Louis, Missouri and Magnavox of Morristown, Tn. and Y-12 Nuclear Weapons Plant, Oak Ridge, Tn. where he retired. John was preceded in death by siblings, Ambrose Kyle Greene, Carl William Greene, Ada Ruth Shockley, Almer Greene, Ruby Greene, Bonnie Testerman, Glen Wallace Greene & James Henry Greene II.John was never married, however he leaves behind a faithful companion of 14 years, Dovelene Damron. One sister, Lillie Belle Reed of Sneedville, Tn. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews. His nephew James H. Greene would call him from time to time to discuss “of course the Tennessee Volunteers” John had a lot of quite love to give. He was a very special man.The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the McNeil Funeral Home in Sneedville, Tn. with funeral services beginning at 1 P.M.
